Ecology and Freedom Workshop Series

Knowing the Land is Resistance (From Hamilton)
- Why is there so little forest left? Who benefits from this? What do healthy natural communities look like in this area? What roles do the various plants and animals play in these communities? How do disturbed wild spaces heal themselves? How can we, humans raised in this constrictive colonial, capitalist system, participate in that healing? Knowing the Land is Resistance Collective will be doing some traveling, to explore wild spaces throughout the Southern Ontario region and to connect with the people who love them. Over the past couple of years we’ve been giving workshops and working to deepen our knowledge of the land where we live. Now we want to take these experiences on the road!
July 23rd 1:00pm – Ojibway Park (Meet at Nature Centre)

Guess what, YOU HAVE RIGHTS!
(Youth Welcome!) - Learn how to resist police harrassment and get through an encounter with a cop without a conviction. Its up to us as citizens to educate ourselves about our rights and effectively resist the law and order establishment and its unprecedented reach into our lives. This workshop will use re-enactments and presentations to give you more confidence when dealing with aggressive police officers.
July 30 4:00pm - Windsor Workers Action Center – 328 Pelissier

Urban Foraging (Back by Popular Demand)
Foraging is one of the most sustainable and rewarding ways to feed yourself. Rasberries, peas, nuts, medicines, greens and many other edibles are waiting to be picked. Foraging is not only a survival skill but an essential element of an environmentally conscious diet. This will be a presentation followed by a foraging walk, concluded with food-prep session where you will learn how to prepare and cook your wild edibles.
August 20th 2:00pm – Windsor Workers Action Center – 328 Pelissier

Fibre Crafting
Lindsay will teach us how to sheer, wash, prepare, spin and and knit our own wool. This workshop is essential for anyone interested in learning how to produce their own fabrique or clothes.
September 10th 2:00pm – Windsor Workers Action Center – 328 Pelissier
